It’s almost Christmas, again – and again, you are looking for a present without much luck. Well, if your friend, better half or child is a gamer, perhaps I can help you out.
Christmas gifts for gamers are not always easy as gamers generally have most things they need, but – some new fresh stuff is always nice! 😀 So don’t worry too much about it.
As a gamer myself, I did a round up of items I would super happy to receive. Hopefully this can help you out in your search for the perfect gift this year.
Please don’t hesitate to drop a question below, I will do my best to help you out 🙂
Mouse
A mouse is a personal item, and a very subjective choice. Everyone’s hand is different.
However! If you want to maximize your odds, I would go with either of these two (I own both of these and can personally vouch for both of them).
Razer DeathAdder has become the bread and butter for gaming mice and is used during eSport leagues etc etc, however, if you have a small hand (like me), you might find that the DeathAdder is slightly big.
In which case, I would opt for the Logitech G203 – which I am using as I am writing this even, I love it, and it fits my mini hand perfectly. Mind you, the Logitech is not a mini mouse, it’s just slightly smaller than the Razer and a bit flatter.
Streamer Gear
Is your gift receiver trying to strike gold on YouTube or Twitch? If she/he doesn’t already have some descent gear, definitely consider either a camera or a mic.
Upping the quality of your streams/videos can significantly increase interest from viewers around the world.
The Blue Yeti is a nice entry/mid level microphone which you can plug directly into your computer. I know I said entry/mid, but you will not notice a huge difference between a super high end mic and this one.
But the difference between the Yeti and a headset microphone is astronomical.
The Logitech C920 is a nice entry level camera, and with a well lit environment / person, gives a surprising crisp and nice quality. Obviously not rivaling a DSRL or such, but still a great option.
Headset
Steelseries has been making waves lately with their Arctis gaming headphones. As an owner of the Arctis 5 I can happily recommend these.
If wireless is a necessity – Arctis 7 will be your choice.
Both come with different color options.
Monitor
If you’re feeling generous this year, a new monitor is a sure way straight to a gamer’s heart.
While I am drooling over the Samsung 34″ Ultra Wide curved monitor myself – a budget option could be the LG 29″ if you don’t want to shell out almost $800.
These are both ultra wide monitors which is the latest trend in gaming. There are many other options out there but here are two to consider.
Mouse Pads
I am a new fan of these full width mouse pads where you put both your keyboard and mouse on it.
If you want to keep costs down, something like this could be a nice upgrade to someone who plays on PC.
Mini consoles
A new trend among the console giants is to make mini versions of their classic consoles.
If your better half or friend is a fan of retro games, this is a great gift option they are sure to appreciate!
They all come pre loaded with games, so no need to buy anything additional.
Books
I personally love books about video games, especially the art books. Any geek will love to add these to their book shelf.
Just make sure to check what video game franchise your intended receiver is a fan of – just getting anything will not do here.
Cook Books
Another great trend lately is to make cook books out of geeky TV shows and games. I would have never thought this would become a thing.
So the idea is that there are certain foods and drink in the game/show, and these books describe the recipes for these dishes. Great idea! 10/10
My wife and I are thoroughly enjoying the Game Of Thrones cook book 🙂
Desk Toys
You’re either a desk toy person or you are not, and I think you will already know if your person in question is. Either his/her desk is loaded with toys, or it’s not.
If it is, great! Have a look at the figurines below, again, as with the books, make sure to double check their preference of games. Below are some popular ones.
Monitor Stand
I like to have my monitor a bit raised, it feels more natural to look at the screen. But most stands are super ugly unfortunately.
However, I am happy to say that I am a proud owner of the wooden one below, it’s great and is just the right size (I have an iMac 27″ for reference).
It takes some getting used to, but once you are, you can never go back.
VR
Feeling generous? Well, a VR headset can not go wrong. It’s full immersion on a whole new level.
I own a Vive and am very happy with it, would definitely recommend. Just make sure the receiving person has enough juice in her/his computer to run it.
Desk lights
I gave the Zelda light to my wife who is a dear fan, she uses it everyday. A simple gift, but a very nice one. I’ll be giving the Super Mario one to myself this year 🙂
Hopefully you found something useful here! I know how it is every year, it’s always so hard to find good gifts.
Let us know if you decided to go with any of these gifts, or if you have some great tips yourself! We are always happy to add more!
Merry Christmas!
